3% suspensions
Red blood cells are used for identification, screening and confirmation. Each identification panel contains positive cells for Kpa, Lua and Wra and k-neg cells. Screening panel 123 always contains Bga-, Bgb- and Bgc negative donors.
Red blood cells for antibody identification – Makropanel 16
Makropanel 16 consists of 16 different cell suspensions (3%) derived from individual donors all with blood group O. The Makropanel cells have been selected so as to ensure optimal antigen distribution for the identification of clinically significant red cell antibodies in 97% of the cases. An extra advantage is the presence of a Kpa positive cell, a Lua positive cell, a RzR2 cell, a k negative cell and a Wra positive cell. The cells of Makropanel 16-P are pre-treated with the enzyme papain.
Red blood cells for antibody screening
Screening set 1 + 2
Screening set 1 + 2 can be used to screen sera for the presence of clinically significant red cell antibodies. However, an antigen is in general more readily detected when the gene coding for it is present in the homozygous form than when the gene is in the heterozygous form.
Screening panel 123
The red blood cell suspensions (3%) used in this screening panel have been selected so as to ensure optimal antigen distribution for the detection of clinically significant red cell antibodies. A donor positive for the Cw-antigen is always present. The fact that the donors used in this panel are often homozygous for the genes controlling the antigens present on their red cells, makes Screening panel 123 suitable for use in type and screen procedures. Screening panel 123 always contains Bga-, Bgb- and Bgc negative donors.
Red blood cells for confirmation of ABO groups
Cell suspensions for the detection of alloantibodies anti-A and anti-B (A1 and B reagent red cells) and for the use as positive or negative control (O positive, O negative and A2 reagent red cells).
Red blood cells for antiglobulin control – Coombs control cells
The principle of the test is the agglutination technique, which is based on antigen/antibody reaction. Coombs Control Cells should be added to every test tube yielding a negative result. Coombs Control Cells are IgG sensitised Group O Rhesus D-positive human red cells that have been sensitized in vitro with different amounts of anti-D (IgG) antibodies.
